Why?
Generally I hate 404 errors as most of us, I suppose. But about custom 404 there's something different. I mean you don't get all angry "this stupid shit doesn't work", when you get a to see custom 404 error page you stare at the graphics, reading some funny text maybe, funny image, some redirection to the site you wanted to visit that's no longer there, where it was supposed to be. I'm using custom error pages myself and try to make them attractive 'cause I really really HATE this whole blank white page with black letters saying the site's not there. Which actually reminds me that I have to update my error pages...
